Humans as Beneficial Keystone Species on Planet Earth?
Outlines of a Holos Earth Ethos
A growing number of thinking people express the sentiment that we as a human species don’t deserve to exist. This is supported by the compelling case of our destruction of the planetary ecology and the challenging consequences we are increasingly experiencing.
The sentiment of our undeserved ability to continue to exist is accompanied by a deep sense of despair, even cynicism, at our capacity to change. In our alienation from the whole, we not only exploit and deplete human and natural resources – we degrade living systems. We don’t collectively share Albert Schweitzer’s dictum that the essence of ethics might be a ‘reverence for life’.
Is there a different way of looking at our human footprint and our potential for transformed collective behaviour to a positive impact? Is there any hope that we indeed might become a beneficial species on planet Earth?

Whilst the grave question to be examined concerns our impact on the greater planetary ecosystem, it also begs the question whether we as humans indeed have a generative role to play in the holistic scheme of things.
In the Holos Earth Project online webinar with Marcus Link, we will together explore how we might generate a vision of possibility for a transformed shared future. It will be a common-sense perspective that envisions humanity awakened to its deeper relationship with life. But it will be supported by a vitalising narrative capable of firing up our imagination with hope and strength to set out on a new journey of human soul-building in harmony with the greater order.
With the ambition to outline a holistic, albeit practical approach, Marcus will lead us on a whistle-stop tour of the principles of regeneration which give rise to the question of whether there might be the possibility, however slim, of human beings becoming a keystone species.
Marcus thoughtful approach develops the scientifically grounded principles of ecological regeneration into a deeper meaning-making towards a transcendental ethos about our relationship to each other, to the artefacts of everyday human life, and to the world at large.
Is there a possibility for human beings to play a part in the unfolding of greater wholeness, of more life and beauty, as agents at the edge of becoming?
